    Hi Folks,

My A6 Avant BE’s build slot has been pushed back a couple of times and now on checking with Audi CS
Via Twitter, they say it’s still in Production, despite the build week being 4 weeks ago…

My broker tells me similar, it’s partially built and waiting components linked to the chip shortage but can’t be any more specific as to what parts/components are affected; e.g. it’s the control unit for the audio or the virtual cockpit.

Is anyone in a similar boat and had any more info as to what parts/components are causing the delays??

I am in the very early planning stages of thinking about ordering a new A6/A7.

I’ve got it in my head that it could be a year from the date I put deposit down, to the date the car would be delivered. Have I got this right.. am I in the right ball park?

Also… does it make a difference if you are ordering a generic top end level model (say vorsprung) in a common colour? (Might all ready be built?)

Plan for the worst Is all I’d say at the moment. Friend works in the sector and most manufacturers think it will be 1 before we’re back to normal lead-times.

For me, it’s an A6 Avant, 50TDI in Daytona. Opted for the tech pack but in between ordering it’s now standard, so my only “option” is paint.

Normal lead times by 2022? (I think I read that somewhere… tho there was mention that it could extend into 2023?)

Your order sounds like a motor etc ( I too have Daytona grey paint and would probably go with it again … alongside the black trim package etc ) When did you order… and realistically when do you expect delivery?

I was seriously considering the 50/55 plug in electric hybrid platform.. either A6 or maybe A7.. (I’ve reached the stage where I won’t be doing the annual mileage that previously justified the diesel)

It could be 2023 before chip manufacturers can get up to speed

Ordered late April / early May. Last time i spoke with the broker, it’s built but waiting for some components - I don’t know which as Audi are not releasing the info.

Mine is a Black Edition too if that makes any difference.

    From the Audi web site

    Update on delivery times

We’re sorry that due to global supply chain issues, in particular those relating to semi-conductor chips, delivery times on some of our model lines are currently longer than we would like. Please be assured we are working hard to deliver your chosen vehicle as quickly as possible, and to keep you up to date with what’s happening. Please don’t hesitate to contact your Audi Centre who will work with you to find the best solution, and can advise on the limited supply of new cars which are available from stock. We also have a wide variety of Approved Used cars available for you to browse online

Yup, standard message which doesn’t tell you anything useful (ie on your build, what the affected components are - eg virtual cockpit, audio related, etc).
