    Hello All

When I bought the car I was told the traffic updates were free of charge. After the first 3 years, I got an error on the screen about "licence expiry". I sent an email to Audi UK and they were happy to give me another year. In fact every year since 2016 I've been able to get an extension.

Then today I sent the same old email but got the reply that I needed to use the app and register my car. For that I would need my passport and V5 (no huge deal I suppose) but then they said that would entitle me to go to the "digital shop" and purchase my licence.

Has anyone else been through similar? I'm thinking that since these multiple annual extensions almost amount to admission that the car was sold on the basis of free traffic updates that the next stage should be the small claims court?

Good luck, I tried the same back in February and was told the only way to extend the licence was via the App and approx £11 per month. So I let my data sim expire and now use Waze instead as its free.

There is a long thread about this, I am expecting the same in a few weeks. From what I understand you can use Google maps, but am not sure if the traffic is as accurate as the Audi system which works well. Perhaps users of Google can give there experience. Audi, shame on you…

same here, I am now using Waze through Apple Carplay, and a wireless connector for this so no need to plug in.

The more people that dont subscribe the better as I detest monthly payments after a £60 k purchase for features that should be part of the purchase price.

See attached the response from Audi UK on this. Previous email stated that as if 1st April 2021 that licence renewals changed to a charged subscription basis.

Pretty disappointing let down from Audi, not befitting a premium car brand.

I had the same about this time last year, but then the online traffic started working again by itself. I gave up on Google Earth and I don’t use Audi Connect for anything else except for sending sat nav destinations from my phone. I’m still considering getting one of those road top boxes for £200 or so to get CarPlay up and running.

I’m the same; got google earth maps switched off… got my 3 network free data sim up and running, occasional use of same for voice online destination search for the navigation system. It’s a pity because the system traffic built into the nav system was a pretty nifty integrated setup.

Not heard of the CarPlay box you mention… but it sounds like an add on extra box.

Sounds like I’ll need to wait on my fully electric C9 A6 flying car which will be my next motor… hah..

I’ve just looked up the Road Too device. Looks good. Is anyone distributing or fitting in the UK do you know?

There is an eBay seller called Bavarian Automotive selling it. Not found anyone who can fit yet, so I’m hoping to take the plunge myself. Just asking the seller if the instructions cover dismantling the relevant bits of the car.

Maybe I'm being a bit **** about this but I'm 100% sure nobody told me I'd have to start paying after 3 years. Google maps still works, the lights and horn still work so why not the traffic and more to the point why didn't they make that clear?

So unless you all tell me I'm being a D*ck, I am planning on going down the small claims court. I'd be happy to update here if anyone cares. Thinking it would be better to sue the dealer rather than audi as it was them who never made this clear but maybe I should "invite" both to the party? Also someone mentioned £11 per month - I can't check because apparently I'd need a Passport (currently away getting renewed) and would need to go to my dealer to be IDed ! I need to have at least a rough idea of how much to sue for so is £11 per month correct for an A6 C7 ?
