I have the dreaded knock from the front suspension, I have changed the suspension arms but unfortunately it has not fully cured the "knocking" any ideas what else could be causing this noise. starting to fall out of love with my A6.

Wires to the plug that connects to the front fog light have broken right next to the plug, is the plug a replaceable part?

Did you use ALL new OE spec fasteners? Yes the plug is replace, it will have the (tiny) part number moulded in and there are repair wires to install and then solder to the originals.

I’ve had a knock on my drivers side, accompanied with vibration.
Vibration is now gone - turns out the two new balanced tyres weren’t actually ballanced! 🤣
Bought a load of control arms, however the more I look into it - the less convinced my knock is control arms related, also bought new retaining springs for front brakes!

Also found that the sub-frame bushes are prone to wear on these cars, which also can produce a knock along with vague handling.

May be worth getting car up on ramp and get those bushes inspected, there are 4 no in total.

Apologies if this is obvious, but did you have weight on the suspension when you torqued them up?

Not got them yet, deciding how to tackle first as apparently a bit of a mare to do - the sub frame holds the engine mounts, so need an engine hoist to hold engine, plus remove all suspension arms from the frame…. Then pull the sub frame out - about 8 hours work!

You are better off getting the car in the air and getting someone to check those bushes.

Have you checked your caliper springs? Its not the pads knocking about?
