Can some body pls tell me where the MMI unit is on a 58 A6c6. 2 weeks ago my windscreen cracked, my phone stopped working in the car,2 days later mmi goes dead. The cd changer in the glove compartment has power, alas all other related mmi are dead.switches not lit ,no screen. So after doing a bit of reading, and checking fuses,i recon mmi unit is toast. so where is it.?? and if i buy one off flea bay, will it be plug and play. Help please. Or if any one in the south east can repair it , then pls do.

You need to get the car scanned - the fault might be a faulty component in the optical MOST loop, or it might be a break or disconnection of an optical connector. A scan should tell you which components are healthy and which are not. On a 58 plate, your car may be a facelift, in which case the "MMI unit" is the 5f multimedia unit in the glovebox (I assume it has a drive slot and also SD card slots)?

    Good luck!

It sounds like you have a pre-facelift car? Is it a saloon or an Avant? On the saloons the rear lights extend into the boot for facelift cars but not pre-facelift. The pre-facelift cars have MMI 2G and facelift cars have MMI 3G, so different systems. That's why it's important to know.

If any of the modules connected to the MOST loop fail (pre or post facelift), the optical loop is broken, and nothing works on the MMI - so there are several places to look. Getting a scan is a good first step. Also having an optical bridge cable is useful - you can bypass each unit in turn and see if the MMI comes back to life.

    Good luck!
