    Hi,

I have a 2008 MWB Crafter Panel Van.

Tyre pressures are written on a sticker plate on the van, it recommends Front Tyre pressures to be 44 psi, both laden and unladen. The plate also recommends tyre type 235/65R16C, which are fitted, on the tyres themselves it statesd a Max Pressure of 69 psi.

At 44psi the tyres look under inflated, I have had them at 55 psi,. but even then they still look under inflated.

I recently had the front wheels tracked and balanced, when I got the van back the garage had inflated the tyres to 69 psi, which this time made them look properly inflated, however a few days later I did ask the garage the question if that pressure was correct, and he said I should reduce the pressure down to the recommended 44psi, and apologised, not knowing who had worked on the vehicle and inflating the tyres so high, however someone felt in there greater wisdo that 69 psi was a required pressure for them to do their job.

So what should be the correct tyre pressure, 44 psi though leaves the tyre looking partly inflated.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Mine also look underinflated at the suggested 3.0bar all round when lightly loaded. 3.0bar is 43.5psi, but I round it up to 45.

I find the ride crashy with little weight in the vehicle and pressures of 55psi.

I recommend sprinter-source.com for tyre pressure chat and lots of crafter info. The nvc3 (aka 906) Mercedes Sprinter was made in the same factory as your van and apart from the Engine, badges and the front end aesthetics is the same. So you can get lots of info from Sprinter owners.

Which is helpful as I've yet to find much of a Crafter community. Still looking!

So you find 55psi too high, but if a tyre is rated at 69 Psi, 55 should be ok with a margin for average loading ?

Sprinter forums are a good idea, yes Crafter info seems bit less so on the interweb.

I had another thread running on this, that got quite technical, take a look, let me knoe if I am either I am a little thick, it went over my head or just more than I needed.
