    Hi All,
    Any MOT testers out there?
Is having the engine management light on throughout the MOT test an MOT fail?
The garage issued me with a failed MOT for engine light (major defect) & tyre worn close to limit( advisory)
Then issued me a MOT pass , with just the advisory on it.
What's hacking me right off here , is the fact that on my DVLA record of mots , is that it failed on EML light, thus if this continues down the years, it's de-valuing the car.

I haven’t seen that on an engine MIL for a while but I did see it at the beginning of lockdown v1.0 on a Beetle cabrio air bag warning but it didn’t fail the MOT as it is only a failure if it is on, not if it doesn’t work… stupid but true. It was a total pain to put right, the cluster was a mess and a new one obsolete, VW Classic had them but we’re not selling to the UK because of Brexit so I found a used one but that refused to let me recode it. In the end I took both to bits and rebuilt using a mixture of parts, some refinishing and it looked perfect with the correct mileage, right fuss though.
