Hello. I bought a VW Golf Estate (2019) 1.5 TSi EVO DSG Bluemotion on Friday and took it for a long ride over the weekend. It's been great except for one strange thing...

When I'm driving and I take my foot off the accelerator (but still moving at e.g. 30, 40, 60 mph - i.e. not stopping) it usually goes into Eco mode (Eco icon on the dash). That switches off when I put my foot back on the gas and it all happens silently.

However, under the same conditions, quite often when taking foot off the accelerator (but still moving as normal) it also lights the A icon (start-stop system). When I put my foot back on the gas in this scenario I can clearly hear the ignition sound. It's not that noisy and it's seamless in terms of driving (steering is fine, etc), but it's a very distinct ignition sound and quite odd.

Is this meant to happen?! And if so, is there a reason why it sometimes just does the Eco mode and sometimes Eco plus the full start-stop ignition sound?

It happens in any driving mode (eco, sport, normal).

    Thanks!
