    Hi
i have a Mk6 Golf. I am sure it used to have a green light in the dash to show dipped lights are on, however I cannot see it, nor a reference in the handbook, nor searches on line. The issue is, as the car has auto lights, without the green warning light, I have no idea if the dipped lights are on (inc the rears), or just DRLs ( which doesn't inc rears), which is slightly poor lighting or mist and fog can be a problem. Any ideas if there should be a green lights on warning light? The blue high beam warning works fine.

I dont have a green light indicator on my mk 6 either. You can see if your lights are on if the instrument panel lights up but difficult to notice in daylight. I briefly turn the main beam switch and if it lights up I know the dips are on. Otherwise I just override the auto lights.

The only VAG brandI can think of that does that is Skoda but I don’t think they all do now. I find this full illumination of the dash with the ignition on is daft and I am sure a major factor in people driving at night with their lights off.

The ONLY one I have ever owned with one is the Octavia 1, I drive hundreds of different cars each year but don’t get to live with them that deeply but I know the Golf 5 doesn’t have one and pretty sure the Golf 6 doesn’t.

Yeah, I am beginning to think it doesn't too, I just could have sworn it did. The other vehicles in the house (fiesta and Nemo van) do have the dash light, and the fiesta has auto lights the same as the golf. Oh well, at least it's not a fault with the golf.

My Passat MK7 has one on the light switch which in my opinion is a stupid design, as when you need the lights in the daytime I have to cup my hand over the lamp or instruments to see if they are on or not as the indicator light is just to dim, it does really need one on the instrument cluster.

Yep, the family Ford Fiesta has a warming light. Strange a more upmarket car doesn't.

My Ford Cmax has a lights on warning as well. More expensive but not necessarily more upmarket and no heated screen!!
