So i have uncontrollable hot air from my drivers side at times. Normally to fix this i would clean the control valve solenoid and all would be well.
However as the screws are breaking on me ( not getting the right thread) so i just did the drivers side one this time and it didn't seem to fix things.
I was all for ordering a new valve but I was looking on 7Zap to see how it all works left for left right for right sort of thing, and i can only find 1 heating element inside.
Can i not find it, does it work on some weird way, am i barking up the wrong tree?

The valve assembly is 4F2 959 617 B and retails at £466.12 and you need the fitting kit 4F2 998 617 which is £61.10

there are lots of 4F1 959 617 B ones out there for about £100 - from digging it seems to be a LHD version
******* (an after market parts website which this site blocks out - hint - doc) list it as suitable for my car. is there a difference?

    edit edit:-
    this is what elsa states:-
Left and right-hand drive vehicles have a different holder -A-

sorry for going on here but prices like that would put people off keeping these cars so i am determined to find a more economical solution.
& zap would suggest its a chassis split

with 2 very different brackets - no mention of LHD or RHD
I might take one for the team and order a real cheap, new, one from flea bay and see if it works. Elsa suggests that the bracket can be changed

I cant get a picture of the fitting kit to see what it actually is.

why have a different number if the fitting kit is the RHD difference - am i going to end up with my heating controls working the wrong sides lol

The number 1 after 4F can mean left hand drive only, 2 usually denotes a right hand drive or estate specific part. When I fix a customers car, I need a fix first time with minimum fuss and absolute reliability.

I am with you there. when doing work for someone. but the price difference is killing me - if it had of been about 50% more i would have talked myself into it, but that is 5 times more!!
Our quality department had a sign up " do it right, do it once" - i stuck a small label in the corner that stated revision 16... no one ever noticed lol

the car is hitting me from all directions these days so i am not sure when this will come to the fore - right now i am looking at 4F0 298 200 B and thinking scotch clips? would heat shrink survive in there. anyway i digress
I will update this thread when i sort something
    all the best.
