    Hi there Guys & Gals

I am about to trace a current drain on my A3 1.9Tdi P1

I will be opening the bonnet and driver’s door (to gain access to the fuse box) I will then latch both of those so that the management unit thinks that the bonnet and door are closed.

My question how long does it take for this unit to go to sleep ?

Also what reading will I get on my multimeter showing that it HAS gone to sleep ?

Any helpful advice would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    Tony

If the CAN BUS can see the car is locked it goes down consumption in two stages, dropping to a very low drain after a few minutes.

It is not the sort of data VAG provide but I like to see no more than 0.03 amp but it is often nearer 0.07 and that takes the battery below starting point in about 2 weeks which is typical of a modern car.
