Hi folks I am struggling to find sensor 4 bank 1 can anyone explain where it is?

Also if anyone knows the part number that would be appreciated. Vw said it is 03l906262a but I’m sceptical as that is the sensor on top of the dpf in the engine bay! Any input appreciated.

    Many thanks.

The current revised part number is 03L 906 088 HM, these have a brown plug and it is after the DPF. If I had the time to order one in then I would use the Bosch 0 986 259 075 or Febi 48844

725E90AF-6A26-4793-9FDF-DBACEC1773A9.jpgCrasher - thanks so much as always!

On the pic do you know if it’s the one on the Turbo or on the pipe out of the dpf.

Any advice on removal both look hideous for access - not sure how easily I would get the turbo off?!

I would say from below isn’t an option had a look on my drive on ramps - is through the wheel well do able?

It is after the DPF, under the car. These have three EGT sensors, #1 is before the turbo, #3 after the turbo before the DPF and #4 after the DPF

One of the real nasties that can happen when doing these is the thread Galling (AKA cold welding) and tearing the thread to pieces to the point you can’t get it out; drilling them out is evil as the stainless steel is so hard and then you have to use a high temperature gas tight repair insert such as a Wurth Time Sert or weld in a new boss which would have to be custom made but that’s the easy bit! We spray them with Wurth Rost off and very slowly try and release them a bit at a time and then spray and retighten to get some fluid down the thread and all the time feeling for that signature grabby, almost rubbery, sensation that indicates it seizing. If it even vaguely feels odd we get some heat on but we have found the hot spanner oxyacetylene method is too harsh so now we use a 2kw induction heater which also allows the (smokey) use of releasing agent that is impossible with a naked flame.

Hi folks, right Crasher many many thanks for your help, but I need a bit more!!!

I replaced the sensor with the part number you gave me brown connector sensor on the down pipe tight to the bulkhead before it goes under the chassis (very awkward I did it from above lying on the engine with an access / slotted socket - I sprayed it for 3 days on and off with penetrating spray and it undid without a huge amount of force so was very lucky!). The sensor connection I managed to access via the drivers wheel well.

Anyway did all that and cleared the code for P246e which is now gone great!!!

I still have the dpf error and the car is in limp mode any idea how I can clear that issue?

    Any help appreciated!!

You are over the limit for a forced regeneration, you could try a new (genuine) sensor bit if it was a customers cat it would be DPF off for a pro clean, new sensor and forced regeneration.
