Sorry about the "I'ce" in the thread title / should be "I've".

I have a split hose where it comes out of the heater matrix by the back of the engine block (2.4 ltr V6 / petrol) and it is in the worst possible place right up against the bulkhead/firewall. I couldn't even find the leak and had to take it in. The split id on a bend and can't even be taped up + the pressure would probably blow off any temp repair.

Anybody know how to replace this? Is there a recognosed procedure? The mechanics I have been to (not AUDI specialists) are thinking along the lines of unmounting the engine block and moving everything forward a bit to make a little room.

Cars. At the moment the only luck I seem to have is bad luck. Deep sigh ..... right, time to stock up on water containers.

I wonder if the heating is off whether that would slow down the speed of the leak?

The matrix is constant flow, you would need to clamp both hoses with proprietary hose clamps. Could you private message me rev so I can find the hoses easier, the non FI listings on ETKA are bewildering.

    PM sent.

Now I know the matrix is constant flow I can use the heater/aircon unit again (phew). Early mornings need the demister and warm days need the aircon.

The two hoses are 8E2 819 371 N feed and 8E2 819 373 S return but both went obsolete from Audi in June so there may still be stock, they were £46.49 each. The S is in stock in Germany but they won’t ship to the UK by mail order because of Brexit. An Audi dealer can order for you but the price tends to double.

Ouch. Might have to try a breaker’s yard but I will give my local Caffyns Audi dealer a call later to see if they’ve got any.

Well, Caffyns Audi informed me that there are none in the country and that I should try AUDI TRADITION but they don't seem to have any.

On EBAY there are some in Latvia but I can't tell exactly what is being supplied as the picture appears to be from a manual and shows all hoses/grommet etc.

I've just posted a request on Breaker Link to see what comes back from there.

I believe (bare in mind that I am not an expert) that the required expression is "bugger"!

Audi Tradition have the S but they won’t sell to the UK because of Brexit but VW Classic will, frankly Tradition are hopeless.

Well, no luck with the breakers and I couldn’t find the exact part numbers at VW Classic.

I may have found some in Latvia (via eBay). I’ve got to send the VIN over so they can check (they found it amusing that I also translated my message into Latvian - thank you to Google translate). About £76 per hose. Ouch.

I’m wondering if it is time to scrap the old girl. It would be a shame because, apart from transmission judder issues occasionally, she’s a smooth ride.

All those people in Latvia do is order from VW Classic or Tradition and send here, they are on a B2B account like we have which gives them a discount and no VAT and they add a chunk on top, they only order in monthly and it takes for ever to arrive here. Tradition have one of the hoses but not the other

Well, a breakers has got some at last £65 + £10 courier. Ouch, a bit steep for old hoses, methinks.

I also need to replace the rear light lenses and the oil sensor so I’m wondering whether to chuck more money at it or start looking for a newer motor. Sigh, I hate getting rid of my old cars - there must be something wrong with me.
