I have an issue with the automatic transission on this car, whereby it starts going out of gear and just reving in 3rd or 4th gear when warm, and other thuds and jerks.
Long story short, I ran this by an auto transmission specialist, who said, it'll be the valve body that needs changing. The weird thing is, that it doesn't throw up any codes on the vag machines, but that didn't seem to concern them. Is it normal sometimes for this to happen? Some people have said, that there's no fault then, because of no code....but there obviously is.? anyone come accross this, or know any different....Thanks

That’s the Aisin Warner TF-60 and when common, we’re HUGE trouble… mainly because VW did not specify a fluid change and that is what they needed every 30k miles. When relatively new we would only fit genuine VAG units but at £5200 that would be daft unless the car was exceptional so now we have them rebuilt for around half that, I struggle to accept no codes are being stored

crasher ...thanks for the reply...The car only had 80k on the clock, and has had the ATF changed. I bought it from a dealer, and he wouldn't repair it under the consumer rights act, so took him to small claims to recover. The code thing is baffling, unless something is preventing it from reporting it. Thats why I've put it out there. two different vag machines were used, and nothing. It shows the transmission functioning ok though.
