    Hi
    Please help I have an ABL engine which the cam belt slipped on I have rebuilt with a new head and belt kit but it has a knock similar to a diesel knock but 5 different mechanics are stumped
    Has any one had a similar problem
    If not which other engine codes with replace the ABL with just a few modifications
    PLEASE PLEASE HELP

    I’m assuming that this engine has an ‘ecu’, so really my first option would be to get it plugged into a computer running vag-com to see if there are any errors reported. Check that all the sensor cables aren’t damaged as a broken wire could be the fault.

    Cheers carbon but this is an earlier engine no such luck but thanks for your suggestion

    Sorry about that.

    Did you set the injection timing with a dial guage and the cold start aid fully in?
