The expansion of the ULEZ in London means I'll have to get <2015 Allroad even though at 116k miles my 2011 is still not showing it's age when I'm behind the wheel. Excluding the BiTurbo are the TDI's the same car with different state of ECU tune or are there other differences? Looking forwards to better media connectivity at least and generally a more up to date car. Any one else who's done this like to share their experiences?

The 218 BHP 3.0 came in 2WD and 4WD versions.

You would have to do some in-depth research to check whether the 218 and 272 engines were identical. You can certainly remap a 218 to give more ponies.

Many folk think that a BiTurbo is a 272 with an extra turbo slapped on. Far from it - Audi modified the inlet ports, piston cooling, water pump, oil pump and water flow in the cylinder heads to disperse the extra heat etc.

I believe the Allroad models are all 4WD. The saloons and the Avants would have come with a 2WD option.
