Front Wipers

Hi all , a newbie here so be gentle
Arm snapped on wiper mechanism on my 07 Passat est, ( diesel ) so I fit a second hand one.( Guaranteed working ) Plugged it back in and it will not work ??
Checked main wiper fuse and that was ok.
Refit the old one to try and that didn't work neither. ( with bonnet closed )
Am I missing something

These are operated by a digital CAN BUS signal from the Body Control Computer and I have known many of these to fail and the signal wire break. Check for power across the two power wires and then check the continuity of the 0.35mm CSA wire back to the BCM but I don’t have a wiring diagram to hand to tell you the colour (yellow/green??) to the BCM plug and socket number.
