    Hi there,

Hope somebody can help me. I have a 2014 A6 2.0 TDI Multitronic and for the past few days a 'Gearbox Malfunction - you can continue driving' error shows up alongside a Check engine light. The error its self disappears almost immediately and the CEL goes away overnight only to return a few miles in to my next journey.

The car seems to be driving fine, I can't recall any issues with the gear changes or getting it in to Drive, Park or Reverse at any point.
I have already been under the car and checked for the coolant leak issue that I've seen pop up on my google searches and the coolant valve and the plug in to the gearbox are dry as a bone.

A friend of mine put a scan tool on and got the following error

    P171E00 Passive/Sporadic

    Transmission Input Speed (RPM)

    Sensor 2

    No Signal

Does anybody on here have any idea what the issue could be and if it's something I could perhaps tackle myself. The guy I've used in the past for auto gearboxes is unable to get me in until after the 13th so I'd rather try and find the issue before then.

    Thanks in advance.

The 0AW transmission speed sensor is part of the Mechatronic unit.
