the compressions on this vehicle should show at least 200 psi either at taken cold or hot. This requires a re-placement engine

The A was a revised design supersession. I insist on the dial gauge reading 0, the crank locked against the pin (when there is a hole) and the locking plate to drop in an pull out without any fiddling.

    Thanks for the reply @mickeybo

Where do you get this information from? I’ve never been able to find compression data specifically for engines before? Not even in the workshop manual from VW.....unless I have missed it somewhere?

The engine in there now is actually a replacement engine that I got a few months ago. Had done half the mileage that mine had (old engine = ~220000, new engine ~110000).

pressures for the bad engine were (it had a rough idle....engine was shaking).

    Cylinder 1 135psi
    Cylinder 2 100psi
    Cylinder 3 145psi
    Cylinder 4 140psi

Found this so think compressor pressures are ok.

This is a for a BLF engine not a BAG but thought they would be similar?
