    The REG is LS02 LDV.
However, the gearbox isn't original as I discovered doing this task.
The stamp on the underside of the gearbox is FYU 276 (for an A4 3.0 litre model)
The code on the actual TCM is 01J 927 156 ET.
I also have PRNDS on the dashboard even though the car doesn't have sport. This was how it was given to me by Bristol Transmissions in 2014 (refurb @ £2400). Was told to ignore the S, it was something to do with coding update?

This could be where you are running into problems as the box should be an FSC and the controller is completely wrong for the car so I can’t advise further with it being the wrong box.

Hi Crasher - looking for your advice regarding ATF refill for a multitronic cvt (2002). I think I have finally got a refurbished TCU that is not throwing up previous errors (PRNDS flashing on dashboard) or F125 in VCDS. I'm about to take it off ramps and give it a test drive.
However, I'm concerned about ATF level. When I originally drained the fluid I got 5.5 litres out (cold). On the several attempts to get a working TCU I have drained and refilled gearbox but have only been able to get around 4.5 litres back in following audi workshop guidance (35 - 45 degree temp etc..). Yesterday I got 4.7 litres in so I feel it's still low.
My question is, should I try adding more fluid with engine running, I've heard conflicting advice on this. The workshop manual doesn't mention this method?
    Thanks

You MUST set the level with the engine running and with the temperature (shown in measuring blocks) between 30 and 40 degrees, we slightly over fill and bring the box up to temp and then remove the level setting plug at 30 degrees.

Thanks for confirming that. I could only get an initial 4 litres in when cold, and then run the engine until fluid temp was 40 degrees. I couldn't get more in until I tried again with the engine running and then I got another 700ml in. I'll try and get some more in - need to order some more ATF.
    Regards

Just out of curiosity, how do you flush these gearboxes to completely refresh the fluid?

You have to use a special flushing rig or an air line
