    Hello All,

    I have recently removed the DPF, had it cleaned. Fitted a new Audi pressure sensor and seals plus a new Valeo EGR cooler.

    She is a different beast but it seems that the soot level increases rapidly and then a DPF regeneration starts. It never seems to do a passive regen, only active. I have checked this with VCDS, soot content increases and then at some point the exhaust gas temperatures start to increase and the soot goes down.

    Is a passive regen even a thing!

    100 miles at about 1800rpm with cruise on, on the motorway. If I need to increase to 2K+ what’s the point of a passive regen because unless exceeding 90+ that will never happen in standard auto mode. The EGR warning light came on and 5 miles in manual mode cleared!

    I may be wrong but it was always recommended to do twenty minutes or so at 2200. Or thereabouts.

    Passive regen iis unlikely due the temperatures required. Vw claim it can occur at full throttle. We never get a chance to drive at full throttle. Driving at 2000rpm initiates and is ideal for the ecu regen not a passive regen as far as I know. There is some dpf fuel additives which lower the regen temps by about 100c to 500c but again I've not had the opportunity to try these yet.

    I know youve had the dpf cleaned but make sure the pressure sensor tubes and end hoses are not blocked up as that would give false readings

    You also need to know how often it is actually doing a regen by keeping a check on miles/km since last regen. There is three vcds figures which go hand in hand soot calculated, soot measured and ash level.

    Thanks. Might take the pressure sensor off and clean all the pipes out

    70mph = 1800rpm
    85mph = 2000rpm

    Wonder if I would get away ‘My DPF needed a regen officer’ 🤪
