So I picked up a cheap b5 with a 2.5tdi, AFB engine with an AKE ecu, car ran great until I drove uphill with low fuel which killed the really sensitive vp44 pump, fast forward to this week itís had a new pump fitted, system primed etc and the car still wonít run, itís the D code pump so not coded in, anyone have any ideas? If I hold it on the starter it puffs a tiny bit of smoke and you can smell that itís at least trying to burn the fuel.

Plenty of fuel/pressure at the injectors and no codes whatsoever with vcds

Any clues before I burn it to the ground and buy a Vauxhall???

Which year and 4 wheel drive?
A petition has been started to allow the use of synthetic fuels when they become available, this may allow the continued sale of ICE vehicles post 2030 and the use of classic vehicles well into the futureÖ Their use may even be able to rival electric vehicles given the chance. Please sign this petition IF you feel the infernal combustion has a future if sustainable fuels are made available

So it supplies the fuel filter when jumped but is the relay operating it? These get wet and pack up, common issue.

    Update

00550 fault code stored but no eml, timing checked and engine is at tdc with a pin locked into the pump, got the rear of the car raised to at least level it out to assist not having to pull fuel uphill but still no start
