    Hi All

I have a problem with my 2018 A6 with an engine management light on and the amber coil flashing. When the coil flashes it goes into limp mode.

I contacted a forum member (Honest Tony) who is local to me and has teh VCDS diagnostic tool, Tony ran the VCDS diagnostics for me today and it looks like the boost sensor is faulty so I have ordered a new one which will hopefully arrive tomorrow.

I have tried without success to locate the boost sensor and I have searched the forum for pictures / explanation of where the sensor is without any luck.

Could someone please explain or post a picture of where the boost sensor is fitted please?

    Cheers
    Kev

    Hi Crusher

Mine is a 2018 Audi Avant Black edition 2ltd diesel (190ps) with 54k miles.

Theses are the error codes that VCDS picked up, when I googled 19225 and 25710 the searches came back with a boost sensor problem. I had also been told by a garage that the only data they could find was a low boost warning.

    Unsupported vehicle.
No ASAM data for: "EV_ECM20TDI01104L906021HC" ()
    2 Faults Found:
    19225 - ROD - Unknown Error Code
    - 00 [232]
MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00000001
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 12
    Mileage: 85898 km
    Date: 2021.07.09
    Time: 13:33:19

    25710 - ROD - Unknown Error Code
    - 00 [104]
Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00000001
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 12
    Mileage: 85898 km
    Date: 2021.07.09
    Time: 13:33:19

I think I have found the location of the boost sensor, at the back of the engine toward the passenger side on a little bracket.

    Symptoms
The amber coil light started to come on and went into limp mode. This was intermittent and would clear if I stopped, switched the engine off and re-started.

It started to do this more frequently, I was due an MOT etc... and the mechanic who found the low boost warning.

My air filter was replaced (dirty) and the problem went away for a week and then started again. Yesterday the amber coil light came on as well as the engine management light.

That needs reading with a HEX-NET cable, his HEX-(CAN?) isn't suitable for your car, it is too new.

19225 (P0299)- Boost Pressure Regulation - Control Range Not Reached
25710 (P0299)- Boost Pressure Regulation - Control Range Not Reached

These are the same thing and imply a fault with the turbo's boost pressure control system

    Hi Crusher

Thanks for the info and taking the time to reply. Will I need to get anything reset after replacing the sensor?

I am hoping the replacement sensor will fix the issue.

Deleting the fault codes would be a good idea but they will come back anyway, at least the time and date stamp will be a week or so later than 2021.07.09.13.33.19 so you will know they are new.

    Hi All,

I finally got a new turbo boost sensor and fitted it myself which was a simple job.

Car ran fine for a couple of weeks and the problem has reoccurred. I am not sure what else it could be, given how random the problem is.

I have been doing a little bit of research could a stickling actuator cause this issue? the car has done 56k miles. Would this be a job you can do yourself or is it a garage job.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers
    Kev

    Hi Crasher

It was an EPS sensor that I ordered on-line as it was all I could get at the time, I took the part number off the sensor on my car to order the new one. I have the old one in my car so can get the number from that one.

I haven't got the diagnostic software so I will need to arrange to get it scanned again but the symptoms are exactly the same.
