I was looking at pictures of a second hand number 9 (4F0805271) on ebay and there is no way that would operate as a one way valve, the cross shaped hole was clearly well open and the only new one was priced at over 80 euros including delivery, (for a little bit of moulded rubber.) ridiculous! I have had my car since it was 4 years old, I have never taken it out, would it realistically need replacing within 4 years, seems unlikely, and if it had fallen out on its own, surely I would have found it in the undertray. I am going to check the result of a fine cross shaped hole in the duct tape and if we have a lot of rain will keep my eyes on the chamber under the A/C for water.

I am going to have to look around, frankly Audi garages in France have stung me badly in the past and I am now living on a basic pension, the part number is 4F0805271, in some parts lists it is numbered 9 in other 4, it definitely has a teardrop shaped fitting and very obvious in the exploded diagrams. Often I find best deals and quickest supply from ebay germany but this part seems difficult, I just got front discs and pads from Germany for my wife's A4 3.0tdi cab for a very good price and they look the business. I have found one drain in France for 43 Euros plus carriage, but it still seems very dear for a little rubber moulding. It seems that the same part is used on many other Audi/VW vehicles including Porsche.
