Things I would check :-

Check tyre pressures are correct.
Check the coolant temperature reading with VCDS after a good run, it should be close to 90.
Try to come to a stop on a quiet road after a run with little use of brakes, check all the brake discs aren't hot.

I have a 2015 BiTDI and get around 500 miles per tank. Roughly 400 of that would be motorway and the rest city. City I get around 22mpg and motorway 38mpg.

hey all, thanks for the suggestions. i can confirm tyre pressures are set to correct pressure. i swapped out the fuel filter over the weekend and will check to see over the coming weeks how it affects the MPG. my mechanic did also inspect the car and state there werent any issues (apart from a heavy right foot perhaps)

lets see how it goes. i did the school run this morning and drove very conservatively which hit 28mpg. so i think its improved already.
