How/where to buy a brake master cylinder for 1.9tdi

Garage has told me a new master cylinder is required for my nephew's 2006 A3 1.9tdi (130bhp i think), which makes sense as pedal pressure has been erratic. I cant find them on Eurocarparts, GSF, local factors etc for my 1.9tdi (although they do seem to list them for the 2.0tdi). TPS has for £240, but the car is not worth a lot more than this, any suggestions on whether there is any better place to find reconditioned master cylinders for a 1.9tdi? I saw some listing them for a left hand drive, but not right had drives?!? Any advice welcomed, cheers

A couple of points, one a pet hate of mine; you cannot repair a car, especially on safety (i.e. life) related items, based on a part or overall job cost against the cars apparent value, that way you will reach a point where a tank of fuel outweighs the value of the car. The master cylinder is very vehicle equipment specific so MUST be allocated with referee to the cars build Pr codes. My other worry, on the 8P A3 and on all others cars based on this (PQ35 platform), master cylinder failure is extremely rare… in fact I don’t recall ever replacing one… most problems are due to poor bleeding technique.

I’m not buying 2nd hand off eBay (although if they fail so rarely, then I could risk it!), but have never had to resort to TPS for anything else.
It’s not my own car, but I know it’s not had work on brakes in the last year other than pads, and pedal is not consistent, sometimes it sinks to floor and you have to pump it, sometimes it’s hard first time. My mechanic Ive used for years and trust, seemed adamant, and he knows the long bleed process on these VAG cars.

I’ll probably bite the bullet then on TPS, just seems strange that I can’t find a part on the usual channels, and assumed that master cylinders can be reconditioned as per steering racks etc.

The part number for the master cylinder WAS 1K2 614 019 H but is now a repair kit 1K2 614 019 H REP (oddly with repair kits the middle number would usually end 98 so 698) and these are £278.60 from Audi but it can be bought from ATE under their number 24.4152-0132.3 for a little less.

TPS have failed to source one (back order from Germany but no idea when?!?!), so i appreciate your help, and will explore ATE.

Matt at our TPS told me he had the last one a week ago and they are on at least a three week backorder from Germany... so either it is a HUGE problem or someone "dropped the ball" ordering stock. Not only that but "you know who" in Berlin is showing it as being on back order from ATE! I cannot see any other company that lists this.

Thinking about this, it is a bit naughty; it means that if you have a PQ35 platform car in right hand drive such as Golf 5/6, A3 8P, Octavia 1Z etc 2004>2018 with the 1LV, 1ZD, 1ZF or 1ZP front brakes, you cannot buy a new master cylinder anywhere!
