Thankyou so much for following up on this. It’s to reassuring that an expert found the same as me, but also something of a puzzle.
On this basis, I was potentially going to risk buying one from a scrap car, but assuming I can only use this exact part number, then I’ve not even found one via this route!
I presume trying to bleed, or repair the seals inside are also options, but garage thinks fluid is black from seals breaking down, and concerned that bleeding it could make it even worse/undriveable. And I assume that repairing it is not trivial. Is there anywhere you can send a master cylinder off for repair/reconditioning??
    cheers

There are companies that rebuild master cylinders but they may not be able to do one so modern, I suggest you hang on until TPS has them back in stock. I also find giving whichever make is at fault some grief on faceache tends to concentrate their minds.

Even IF the car was left hand drive, that would still be wrong and LPR don’t know the difference between the companies ATE and FTE!

He needs an ATE 24.4152-0132.3, this is the only picture I can find

The ATE part’s finally back in stock at Eurocarparts!
    no cheaper than TPS tho
they had 2 different items, but luckily were two different lengths, so measuring it means I’ve ended up with the ATE part number crashed helpfully specified.
    Thanks all.
