That looks like a faulty CAN BUS unit, check it for water damage.

@Crasher Will check that. Is it difficult to replace? Will it need coding? Thanks very much for all the info

No too bad to get at under the drivers dash but it will need coding to match the car and the unit has been updated multiple times so the original coding may not be useable. We did one on a Golf 7 last week which was doing daft things like yours and the brand new unit from TPS would not work with the original coding so I had to use ODIS to build the code and ODIS pointed out the new units software needed updating.

@Crasher That might be a bit complicated for me 😬 what would you recommend to do? I wouldn’t mind getting the car to you if you think you can do it? I just want it to be functional.
How much should I expect cost wise?
    Thanks

The part number for the CAN BUS is 7N0 907 530 AN Z01 and is £202.67 but it must be ordered using the VIN as it is a VIP, (Vehicle Intelligent Part). Because Kendal is much more norf than me, I think it would be a good idea to try a line 15 relay first. This is part number 4H0 951 253 A and costs £22.49, it is located under the dash on the drivers side in the lower strip of relays at position number 2 with the group number 645 printed on top. At posistion1 there is another 645 relay which is for the heated rear window and to its right a pair of 646 relays. If that doesn't help I think you would be looking at getting it recovered to me one way or another.

Will keep you updated don’t mind the distance but you look very knowledgable about it so would be happy if you would take care of this. Thanks again
