I recently purchased a second hand A7 2015 BiTDI (320PS) and according to the car it requires an oil change soon.

I was thinking I would do it myself. A friend of mine has jacks, so we should easily be able to drain the existing oil.

However, I have no idea what oil I should get and if I need to change the oil filter as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hi mate,

definitely need to change the oil filter. You can get em cheap from Euro Car Parts. I suggest changing the air filter to. For the oil you need a 5w30 fully synthetic one but vag approved. I tend to use the castrol edge 5w30 but i think there are a few other ones you can use too

if its just the oil change its pretty standard it you know what you’re doing. Undo the sump on the bottom and drain. Might be worth replacing the sump plug too

Having the car at an angle means a significant amount of oil runs to the back of the sump, asking if you should change the filter makes me think you should not be doing the job.

Do it all from the top by buying a 9L extractor from the bay .

Mann are oem but the build quality is better on Hengst and Bosch filters .

    Oil !
507.00 and it doesn't have to be approved .

Its an expensive car to fix if you get it wrong, so take it to an Audi specialist. You will also have to remove and replace the engine floor panel which will be quite tricky to do using axle stands.

Oil should be VW approved. A lot of oil manufacturers say their oils meet VW specs but that is their opinion and is not supported by the VW tests. If their oil does meet VW specs why don't they get it VW tested and approved ?

He he , tried and long term tested this one...

Approval is a marketing decision so that the oil may be sold at a higher price but the producer / blender might not be high volume or wishes to supply high volume to another market .

Have you ever heard of the American oil analysis company...
