    Hello fellow B7 owners.

I just drove back about 35miles (20miles on motorway) with our new Estate 2.0TDi CFFB. Sounds good overall and we're happy with it.

I noticed one thing on the multifunction display (MFD); there's oil temperature digital display (no idea where in the engine the oil temperature is taken). On the motorway, I was drove at 70mph on 3rd gear to trying out Italian tune-up and wondered if DPF regeneration would kick-in (it didn't). The oil temperature swiftly went up from 90C to nearly 110C within 5min or so. I changed gear to 6th at 108C as I was not comfortable with oil getting hotter than that. Upon changing up to 6th gear, it went back down swiftly to 100-103C. Coming off the motorway and on an A-road (50mph, 5-6th gears) the oil temperature fluctuated between 97-103C.

I always assumed that both oil and coolant sits at 90C. The analogue coolant temperature gauge was solid at 90C the whole journey.

That oil temperature range should we be seeing in normal driving and at what temperature level should I be worried?

    Happy motoring!

Mine runs between 90 and 96, but I rarely take the engine above 2k rpm for long periods.

Thanks UMEL, it's helpful to know the oil temperature range under 2,000rpm. The reason why I was going ver high on rev was to see if it triggers DPF regeneration. This is the first vehicle with DPF so I just assumed that DPF regeneration would kick in if the exhaust gets hot enough. Have yours ever triggered DPF regeneration if you drive mostly under 2,000rpm?

    Happy motoring!

It does regen but rarely. I'm not sure if it's after a longish run (30 miles at say 60mph) or just poodling around home.
