Hi guys hope alls well, new to the audi scene, got my partner a 2.0tfsi quattro sportback 2011 80k mileage, timings been done by previous owner but there's an oil leak coming from the timing case so Iv ordered the top & bottom timing covers from tps and its getting done this weekend, is there anything to look out for while it's open etc

    1st annoying noise is
Sometimes on start up it clonks/taps for about 2 seconds and then it goes

    2nd noise is the gearbox
When you put it into drive or reverse from Park it makes a little clunk noise coming from the rear, but this clunk gets louder when your driving it and it downshifts from 3 to 2 etc (in sport mode only) I hope the gearbox aint on its way out

    3rd little annoying noise
Everytime you lift your foot off the gas (no matter how much you've pressed it down) it makes a little tinny/springy type rattle noise coming from under the engine which lasts around 2 seconds

Your help will be really appreciated as we've looked around and can't pin point any of it

Thank you in advance and i hope your all having a good day

The recent chain work and start up rattle are worrying, the rest needs an experienced ear to have a listen.

Replacing the bottom cover opens a can of worms where the timing can slip if the correct tools are not used and the centre bolt of the pulley MUST be replaced.

    Thanks

my mates a pro lol he's a vag specialist, we need to replace it as its leaking from the cover, probably where they pryed it open and bent it etc
Once it's opened then we can hopefully check what's been done

I forgot to post an update
Everything was ok upon opening it up so we just put on the new cases (bolts etc) which has stopped the small oil leak it had, now to find the causes of the noises i was told the start up rattle (intermittent) could be the flywheel?
