    Hi All
New member here with a mk4 Golf 1.9PDI 130 engine. 155k miles but was running perfectly until today, when I reached about 60mph (high revs) I suddenly lost power, no blacks smoke and engine seems to sound ok except for low power.....Pulled over turned engine off and on and it was ok again.
Done a bit of reading up and wonder if it could be the N75 valve? Don't want to take it to garage for them to try and tell me it needs a new turbo so wondered if there is a way I can diagnose it myself before looking to get it fixed?
    Any help appreciated....

I have a pd130 in an A3 03 plate,258K, had this prob yrs ago sounds like you are describing it going into limp mode, due to taking longer than expected to reach required boost, I tracked fault down to intercooler leak, stone chip/crack etc, and or a pipe leaking. It dont take much for them to sence that its taking too long to reach boost -thus limp mode, an a quick off on of key cures the prob . N75 usualy bullet proof, Ive never had one packup over last tens of yrs ! Let us kno how you get on Thank.

Thanks for that oilburnner, sounds postive and hopefully a relatively cheap fix. I love my golf (sometimes wonder why!) so will be happy to throw a little money at it to sort it

Have a fault code read done, the likely result is under or over boost codes and both have very different causes, guessing is a waste of time and usually money.

I should have said - I did get a code read with vagcom, and it telling me under boost. But I did trace the fault down to leaking intercooler as I seen a weep of oil from it. But as Crasher says a code read is the first step realy !
