Hi can anyone help advise why I am having an oil leak that appear to be coming from the timing chain cover at the front side of the vehicle. Seems to be coming from above where the oil sump and the corner of the timing chain cover meet?

I made sure a new gasket was used on the timing chain cover and RTV sealant was used on the oil
sump. (I did all this work with the engine off so I could be thorough but clearly something is not quite right).

Both mating surfaces were clean of old sealant and any other contaminants (brake cleaner used to remove any residue / contaminants).

it’s not a massive leak but it’s enough to leave drips on the floor and go onto the undershield.

You have not said what engine you have, so we all have to take a guess here....
If it's the 1.4 TSI you can Exchange the gasket around the timing chain cover on the left side of the engine

Hi it’s a BAG engine code 1.6 FSI.

The gasket around the timing chain cover was new so can’t understand why it’s leaking??

Where the rubber/metal gasket crosses the block to head face and the cam carrier to head face, you should apply a little dot of RTV to the gasket to counter any irregularities. Did you fit the sump after the chain cover?

Yes I’m remember you telling me this and that’s exactly what I did. Timing chain cover on first then sump afterwards. Otherwise all the sealant gets pushed off into the sump and can block the pick up pipe / strainer.

I made sure I applied sealant where the cylinder head and rocker cover meet and same for the block.

Not sure why it’s leaking still though....shall try and upload a picture to show you if that will help?

The sump requires a special very strong sealant, normal RTV isn't good enough.
