    Got it all back together now.

    Just wanted to check the assembly order of the crank repair sleeve / bushing 03C 198 159A

    There are two 2 discs one flat and one with 4 tangs....

    what’s the order of these when assembling onto the crank?

    pulley
    flat disc
    sleeve (with seal at back)
    disc with 4 tangs (but what orientation? Do they face away or towards you?)

    Don't forget the retro fit O ring N 909 032 01 or it will leak... you did use one last time; didn't you?


    1 Fastening screw
    2 Crankshaft pulley
    3 diamond-coated disc
    4 Sealing ring for crankshaft
    5 Bearing bush
    6 O-ring
    7 diamond coated disc, the one with the tags clipped over the crankshaft

    Slide the bearing bush onto the crankshaft journal

    Yep made sure to use a brand new o ring on the back of the bearing bush (N909 032 01).

    I had the tangs facing towards me as I installed as it looked as if they were going to crush up against the timing chain and oil pump sprockets....hope that doesn’t impact anything.

    All dry as a bone after getting it up to temperature. Fingers crossed.

    Was’nt fun work in this heat!

    Thread repair went well too. I ended up renting the tools to do the job properly.

    Thanks for the help it’s much appreciated.

    Something important I forgot to mention, if using an original style thin lipped (unsprung) Teflon seal, DO NOT lubricate it, the seal and the bushing must be perfectly dry and clean as must the Diamond washers and their contact faces.

    Yep everything was cleaned with brake cleaner beforehand.

    Hope you got the above sorted in this heat! Been melting all day.

    car is back in the rod and not leaking thankfully so that’s sorted.

    but it does feel underpowered compared to how it was before.

    thinking I must of messed up the timing slightly or something. but not getting any correlation error codes as one would expect.

    It was sort of spluttering when approaching high speeds around 50-60mph

    might be a misfire? Hopefully a coil pack or spark plug??

    didnt behave like this before so confused at so what I’ve done when sorting out the oil leak?

    need to see if a misfire has been detected or if there is a fueling issue? Check fuel trims?

    Peg and plate it first, I messed up the timing of a BAG in a Touran many years ago, it just moved a fraction but lost lots of power... very very annoyed I was!

    What do you mean by that? Is that regarding the timing tools?

    I used a DTI and camshaft tool as per workshop manual.

    should I recheck the valve timing to ensure it’s within +\- 0.01mm at TDC?

    So can the timing still be out ever so slightly and not trigger and error / correlation fault code?

    its such a pain if I have to strip it again!!

    i did check the timing multiple times when the timing chain cover was of.

    made sure after torquing and 90 degree turn that timing was spot on.

    guessing it has moved when I did the crank pulley bolt??
