    Hi,

I am hoping for some advice after reading some of the other threads.

I’m about to buy a 53, A6 (130) Tdi Sport saloon from a trusted source. It has done 60k miles and is due a service which will be done before I get delivery. Would this be a major service and should the timing belt be getting done?

I have had Audi 80s in the past and moved to a VW Passat which is ok but nothing special. This Audi is £9500 with a years warrantee which seems quite reasonable. Does anyone have any tips?

    Thanks

    Bob

Cam belt is every 4 years or 60k miles so double yes! Make sure the water pump and tensioners are also replaced.

If you're buying a Multitronic, also do a search on this forum for buying advice and what to look out for.

Definately get the water pump and tensioners replaced also, the 1st is as big a job as replacing the belt and a tensioner failure will have the same effect as a belt snapping.

I have a 53 reg A6 1.9 TDI Sport 130bhp. Luv it! It's the one with a 5 speed box. Goes well, easily enough torque, and I am still getting 45mpg, yet I am about to service it. Mine has done 45k. The boot is never ending too, which keeps the other half happy!

    Hi,

I have now registered with the forum.

Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated.

The supplier of the car will do what is required by the maintenance/service schedule so I will check that the water pump and tensioner(s) are also going to be included also.

    Cheers
