    Hi

    Passat 1.6 TDI bluemotion

Anyway broke down at a garage with the "Depress Clutch" with no start.. after a few attempts to start no start and flashing glow plug light.
Garage have been useless they have said i need to replace a glow plug but upon scanning my car with a cheap sweetwize argos scanner i have found the fault code P0407.

Now with the key in ignition (not starting) i get no codes at all but once the engine is started and rescanned i get the error code.
The car is very lumpy at idle
Sometimes the Start/Stop system shows an error
And i have a ! next to a cruise control symbol where the mileage normally is on start up
Also when the car stops i get a noise coming from the throttle body as shown in video, i have taken the throttle body apart and nothing seems wrong with it at all i have removed the motor within it and tested with a battery spins freely

Also when i try clear p0407 fault with the engine running it sounds a tho the car is gonna stall
    Any help

You have a faulty EGR unit, a standard CAYC engine problem.

I was worried about that lol
How come the noise comes from the throttle body? And when it's unplugged the noise goes away.

Also I'll be doing this job myself!! I've looked at the videos and I know it's not the easiest.

But I've looked on euro's and they have 4 different branded ones starline/Haas/Haas and pierberg all with different pricing.

Is the pierberg OEM and how bad are the others?

Also has anyone ordered front *******? As it only £190 for the pierberg?

Do not fit ANYTHING other than a genuine 03L 131 512 DQ which is £395.62 retail inc. VAT. We fitted Pierburg in the past and two failed immediately before we could even get the car off the lift. The lift is also a point, with the car six feet up in the air these EGR units are evil to do, doing it on your back I can only imagine as some kind of torture. It is bolted to the back of the engine so the DPF has to come out

So a day on my back and the thing is out, not as bad as i thought the only hurdle were the bloody coolant hoses as i was trying to use pliers!

I have to say the thing looks ok i was expecting it to be blocked and the motor not freely moving but it is?

My part number is 03L 131 512 CL Wahler this can be had for £250 from someone other than VW

If you fit aftermarket and it fails, you will have to do it again yourself, if you fit genuine and it fails within two years, VW will do the job for you inc parts and labour. I don't envy you doing that job on your back, there was a time when I could have and had to but too old now...

At 42 and over weight I'm feeling it today lol honestly tho most of the bolts were fine did help having a mini DeWalt impact driver.
Them coolant hoses tho pain and I received a little shower when they came off

So if I fit the EGR from VW they will replace and repair within 2 years free? Does my car have to be fully serviced? Because it isn't. Well I do it
