    Hi All

Does anyone understand how the automatic key assignment works on the Mk 8? At the moment the car seems to default to the last person who used the car for it's user profile when you first get in rather than know which driver it is based on the key used, this means we have to constantly change who is using the car when you first get in, not the end of the world but just a bit annoying if the functionality is there. Also do get some random behaviour where the car I'll drive the car logged in as me (on my own as well) I'll get out to pay for petrol or something then when I get back in it switches over to my wifes profile!

Is this all just the software being a bit buggy?

    Many thanks

    David

When you lock the car it should copy the most recent settings to the key being used to lock it so that they are reset when that key is again used to unlock the car. One thought, are both you and your wife often in the car at the same time with both keys? If so it could be that the car is confused as to which key to use when you start the car and randomly picks one

If you haven't already done so, check that 'Assign vehicle key automatically' is switched on in Users / Settings.

    Thanks both.

The Assign vehicle key is def switched on. I don't think it's getting confused with my wife's key as I'm pretty sure it has occurred when I am out on my own. I'll do some more extensive testing with each of the keys far away from the car to try and understand the definitive behaviour.

At the petrol station do you lock the car when going to pay for the fuel? Thinking if you don't lock the car but on returning to the car you press the unlock button and the wrong settings are in your key (and not overwriten because you havent locked the car) it will load them back up into the car
