My 2012 audi TT 2.0 TDI had a faulty rear prop shaft coupler. 35,000 miles only! The rubber insert was cracking. This was an advisory on MoT but told it would fail if any worse. So I chose to get it fixed. The issue seems to be that Audi do not sell the part alone meaning one must purchase the entire prop shaft costing £1526 (not sure if that is plus VAT as I was still picking myself up off the floor) PLUS FITTING
The reality is you can buy the coupler on its own, just not from Audi. To do this you need the part number which means removing all the bits and then searching a supplier. My local Indy were brilliant and did all the chasing and searching. He had a range of part prices from about £180 to £240 but chose the more expensive as he knew the brand was excellent.

so to help you all out there I attach a photo of said part where you can see the part number on the rubber. At least you can then get the part in advance of starting the work. The part number is IFA 4 000 00 08 10 012 >NR< 7 TTV01-002 SGF Germany
That is all the writing on it. Not sure if the first bit is to do with the year (08 10 012) as it is a 2012 car and the rest is the part number. But it’s a start for you!
Good luck
