    Hey all,

I think I am having the worst nightmare with my VW Golf Mk6 GTD 2.0 (engine code: CBBB) - I drove about 3 streets down and the engine just died on my whilst doing approx 30 mph.
I had no warning lights on dashboard, no big bangs or booms; just complete loss of engine power and power steering. Tried to restart the car and all I heard was a 'whirring noise' (sound clip attached)

I did a VCDS scan and all results reported 'OK'. To which I am guessing that its not an electrical but mechanical fault.

Called out the recovery who sent someone in a VW Roadside assistance and he tried all sorts:
Tried to start the car and the 'whirring noise' has gone and its just 'ticking'
    Battery boost - no luck
    Starter motor - no luck
Roll start - cant see movement in crankshaft

His suspicions are that the engine has seized!

I am quite baffled by this; as the car was last serviced at 135000 miles and its currently on 139000 miles following the service book regime mentioned in the service book.

Can anyone recommend of potential next steps this could be? Or does this actually need to go into a garage and up a ramp?

I have had a look at potentially going down the reconditioned engine path but the local garage reviews arent the most comforting to hear......

    Thanks in advance!
