Hi. I have an intermittent P0303 code on an A6 C6 2.0 TFSI. Moved plugs and coils. Error stays on cylinder 3. Happens randomly but when it does it's at about 1600 rpm under load. If you feather the throttle it fixes itself and the engine light will stop flashing. If you keep your foot down flashing light changes to a constant. Any ideas? Thanks.

Without hearing it all I can suggest is there is a valve operation issue developing, inlet port carbon build up or possibly a failing injector, which engine type code? If the top end sounds like a bag of rolling bolts then there is a cam/lifter/valve/chain issue; it is becoming depressingly common on the first and second generation EA888 engines.

    Hi.

Engine code is BPJ. It's done it on and off for the 12 months I've owned the vehicle so I don't think it's getting worse. The car is now our only vehicle so I thought I best try and sort it. Don't think it sounds like a bag of spanners... I'll try and take a video.

Not the engine I thought it was, the BPJ is an EA113 design. These do suffer a lot of problems with the variable valve timing system but you get a random multiple misfire code and random codes for all cylinders, not just on one. If the fault has not moved with the plug and coil pack, you need a compression test, if that shows equal pressures around 15 Bar, then I would suggest trying to find someone who can flow test the injectors but these are an involved job to remove and require a special Teflon seal installation tool to reinstall. Oddly Bosch have dropped the injectors for this engine and now they are only available genuine at £215 for each cylinder.
