    Hi All,

I have just bought a MK4 Golf 1.8T GTi (00/X) done 36k (my 5th MK4 Golf). A lovely car, full VW history on the nail each year. All reciepts and unbelivably no problems (lambd sensors, coils, window regulator, nothing!).

The rear suspension squeaks / creaks over bumps. I can recreate the noise by rocking the car side to side but not by bouncing up and down, and the squeak sounds like its from the bushes.

VW dealer said its the rear shocks, both sides, VW specialist says its the bushes.

Should bushes just knock? Could the low mileage mean something needs lubricating? Any ideas?

Car has 17inch Santa Monica alloys on if that means anything.

ANy help appreciated, dont want to do the bushses if its ths shocks. Car still has orginal discs and pads (half worn by the looks of it) so it cant have been driven hard at all.

Also, car has MFD Sat Nav which I dont want. Is it worth much?

    Cheers!

I had this on my 03 PD130, just done a service with wheels off and sprayed silicone lubricant around all torsion bar and damper bush areas - now no squeak!

    worth a try??

Hi Nick, Got an 18T myself with 76k on the clock. Never had squeaks on the rear, but had to change the front anti roll bar bushes once as they cause a sqeak when worn. I do not think your problem lies with the rear bushes for 2 reasons, being your low miles and the fact that these oem bushes are also packed with grease from new. I agree with will c that you should try his suggestion because dry rubber on some moving surfaces can squeak. As regards to your MFD Sat Nav. I have one myself, they are worth 2-3 hundred depending on the model, the D model is more sought after than the G. Hope i helped.
    Zues.
