    Hi everyone.

Is there any mechanics out there that could tell me how to set up my carb?

I have just bought an Audi 80 1988 1.8 S, and whoever sold it to me had totally bodged the carb.

The carb flange mount had split in two, causing excessive air to enter the air inlet manifold, but to get the thing running, he must have altered all the settings on the carb. As I have now repaired it, it wont run without the choke on, it just keeps stalling.
I turned the idle speed up to try and compensate for this, but it is running ever so rich.
So I presume he must have turned the fuel and/or air mixture settings up to get it to run.
Now that its all messed up, is there an easy (ish) way to adjust the needle valves? I was wondering if there was a set position that I could put the valves in to get it to run? Or do I have to spend more money and take it to the robbing masses ?
    Thanks in advance guys.

I had an almost identical fault on my Golf. I asked around and found out there was a garage that specialised in tuning nearby, took it there and had it fixed for £15!

I say ask around yourself and pay out a few quid to sort it, the time you spend trying to get it right yourself is probably not worth it.
