    It’s all good now.

Think there was a lot of air in the system that needed to purge.

Coolant is now doing its job and the heating is working again (though I thought it was hotter before the the engine swap).

We pulled the lift pump out the tank and inspected and all looked ok.

Did some guided fault finding with the fault codes and that seemed to solve the issue.

Fuel pump has been readapted and after that all was working ok.

Engine appears to run sweet and feels good.

Gearbox was changed too and feels smooth and all gears changes are good.

Only thing I can note is that it whines in 5th and 6th gear. Not sure if this is gear backlash or is just normal for the 0AG box.

It was very noticeable in the workshop when we had it up in the air.

I’ve checked the transmission oil and was a little low so topped it up with some more Febi GL-4 75w-90 from top of my head....

But can still here the whine in 5th and 6th.

Need to check transmission level again in case it has gone down again.

Yes it does. Not anywhere near as loud as in the workshop. But can still hear it. Generally easier to hear when spoiling down in gear rather than accelerating. It’s a new recon box from PMG, Germany.

That’s not good then, if it is rebuilt it should not whine, record the noise and send it to them, I don’t envy you having to send it back to Germany. I bought what I thought was a good used box for my Octavia 6 speed conversion, it sounded like a coffee grinder and I ended up spending over a grand on parts to rebuild it myself.

Which gearbox oil should be used?

    also what capacity?

    workshop manual states 2.1litres?

but being told it should have 2.5 litres from PMG?

not sure I can get that much in without it all leaking out from fill location?

will I need to fill from reverse light switch too?
