    Hi,

I’m looking to see if anyone else has had this problem. I’ve a petrol, manual A5, regularly serviced and no other issues or warning lights.
When I slow down in traffic etc and rpm drops to 1100 rpm in any gear the car will stutter quite badly. Only when it’s warmed up and if I accelerate the problem goes away at 14/1500 rpm.

Local Audi specialist is unsure so any info would be much appreciated!

Do you know if the timing chain has been done and what the coil pack and plug history are? Was it ever subject to a rebuild by Audi for heavy oil consumption?

Thanks for your reply. The timing chain was done in October last year. Very few miles done since. Unsure of coil pack and plug history but it is getting looked at next week. Starts fine every time which made me hesitant to think plugs or coil pack.

Again as far as I’m aware it didn’t suffer from the heavy oil consumption. The cylinder head was stripped out and cleaned. New inlet valves, exhaust valves done in October also.

When you were describing the problem it immediately suggested to me it had been apart. If there are no codes of any type, I would start with new NGK plugs and genuine coil packs.

It’s going in on Wednesday to an Audi specialist. As it only happens when the car warms up I wasn’t sure. Will see what codes they get if any. Car is quiet and smooth otherwise.

    Thanks again for responding.
