Hi I am trying to fit a GTD multi function steering wheel into a Scirocco.

The steering wheel is installed but none of the buttons / controls work....

Does the steering wheel need to coded with VCDS? If so what needs to be done?

Will post a full scan here when I’ve done one.

The steering column controller needs to be coded.

How would you code the steering column controller?

Go into coding and play around with the settings in there?

Normally VCDS gives an explanation of what the binary / bits mean or so?

ie with / without cruise control, with DSG / flappy paddle etc....

Obviously it would make sense to do a scan first to preserve the original
coding and write it down then start playing around with it?

Other than the steering column controller is there anything else that needs doing?

Is there know additional wiring needed or depinning / repinning of the steering connector to the ECU?

The only difference with the GTD steering wheel is that it has volume control which the original didn’t - will that cause a problem?

    Thank you

I am not into retro fits except for myself as they are too much pain doing them for customers, go into the steering wheel as VCDS calls it and copy the long coding then save it to a text file, then you can look at the coding table and there should be text to help but not always.

Is the coding table part of VCDS if so where is it? Or do I have to look it up somewhere? Appreciate your help.

Go into the controller and top right of the functions is coding, click on this and a second or two later the coding table will open.
