This has been a total pain. Got a 1.6 fsi golf with an annoying very loud high pitch noise when the engine has warmed up. The oil filler cap is sucking air, but when removed the high pitched noise stops (though the engine does run lumpy when removed). I have removed the oil trap/crankcase breather and it was pretty grubby, I have put the cap back on for the breather but without the breather fitted but it is still making the high pitched noise. Would it still make this sound and make the engine suck air from the oil filler cap without this fitted? Really starting to lose it with this car now lol
