I previously replaced all 4 abs wheel sensors thinking the fault was one of these. However the abs & esp lights are still staying on on the dash cluster.

I'm reading up that it points to j104 failure, i hope not. If the fault was at one of the hubs i would have thought that would throw the individual location.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi @dean.st,

Here is the information from the Ross Tech site.....

    Code:
01130 - ABS Operation01130 - ABS Operation: Implausible SignalPossible Causes
    • Fuse(s) faulty
    • Modifications/Retrofits incompatible
    • Wiring from/to Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) faulty
      • Electrical Interference from External Sources
        • High Frequency Radiation (e.g. non-insulated Ignition Cable)
    • Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) faulty
    Possible Solutions
    • Check Fuse(s)
    • Check Vehicle for Modifications/Retrofits
      • Temporarily remove Modifications/Retrofits (including Wiring)
    • Check Wiring from/to Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)
    • Check Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)
    Special Notes
    • This Fault Code can only be cleared after performing a Test Drive above 20 km/h (13 mph).

Sometimes the inductor ring on the wheel bearings can go....they breakdown / perish over time normally rust away.....I ve had to replace these in the past when i've had issues....

Has anything been changed or done to the car to perhaps have caused this code? Did you never have the problem before?

Might be a good idea to get it hooked to VCDS and read the measuring blocks / live data.....might help you narrow down the issue....can see if it's impacting all the wheels / sensors or just one (or maybe more) of them that's

    throwing it out.

Was the issue not investigated further when you got the code read?

Search the code online and you will find plenty of information....

Sounds like it's likely that the ABS pump module will need to be replaced.

But check the plug first and wiring.....

It's a common issue on 09 cars apparently....what year is yours?

You really need it scanned with VCDS to find the specific codes and go from there.
Anything else and you're just guessing (and spending money with little/no rusults).

It's all sorted now. Ecu testing in Derby repaired the brake control module thingy. I now have a lifetime guarantee.

All fitted and brakes work fine, no more dash lights on 😁

Do you mind if I ask how much they charged you? The dreaded 1130 fault is always an abs pump replacement for me and the going rate in breakers and EBay is around £150-£200 I’m assuming your part number is 1k0 907 379 AD? Did you ever have the VW recall done on your abs pump? Thanks
