    Hi all

Wondering if anyone has tried one of the bike racks that hang off the rear of the q7. I don't have a tow bar installed and have a roof box that takes up all the space.

So was looking at bike racks to hang off the back, looking at Thule and saris but they don't have any compatible bike carriers for the q7.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Not the answer you are looking for I know, but I’d get a after market tow bar... I have factory tow bar on my Q7 and a tow-bar bike rack which is great. I’ve also got a rear hatchback mounted bike rack I used to use on my old Subaru Forester. It worked OK but two big disadvantages (a) can’t get into boot when its got bikes on (b) it scratched the paintwork due to slight movements when in use. I wouldn’t want to do that to my shiny Q7...

I've done this with a generic Evans 3 bike carrier and it wasn't a great experience. You have to tie it down tight and it does work but the size of the Q7 make it difficult to load and easy to scratch things! I wouldn't be comfortable doing 60 with them strapped on. After that experience I bought the roof mounts!

So I finally found an official compatible rack carrier

    Yakima racks

    Yakima Infolookup

Although it does say that the straps may compress the headliner as you have to attach in anchor mode which required you to put the anchor inside the boot rather than hanging onto the rooflid.
