A8 4.2 Tdi recall

Hi everyone,

I have just done a deal to buy a 2014 A8L 4.2 Tdi. I have been informed it has not been recalled for the 2018 Emissions recall. Has anyone had experience of this particular recall and the effect it has on the performance and economy?
I ask this because a mate took his Mercedes E class diesel in for a similar recall and ruined the performance, the economy and the driveability and was then told it was irreversible. I don't want to fall into the same trap.
Any advice would be good.

I don't know why anyone would get this recall done. It is obvious why they had the test mode enabled - because if they shipped fully compliant engines, the performance, fuel-efficiency, reliability and noise would be worse.

I can't see a "CAMPAIGN", as they euphemistically call a recall, for the 2014 CTEC engine, there is a "campaign" called 23N2 regarding an air mass distribution fault but that is only required if the relevant fault brings on the MIL.

Hi, when I contacted my local Audi main dealer, they said the car had missed this recall. But they did say they would not do it without my written permission.

It is a 2013 model built on 30-07-2013 but not registered until 31-03-2014, it has the earlier CDSB engine but I still can't see an emissions campaign number. I will did deeper next week, off to Sainsburys now
