The picture from the reversing camera on our Mk8 is often very grainy when reverse is engaged at first, then stabilises after a few seconds. On another thread, @Massimo2323 reported his reverse camera flickering.

Has any Mk8 owner had this fixed at a VW dealer and, if so, what did it involve? Software update, or hardware fix?

Is this in all lighting conditions or is it particularly bad in poor light? I don't have the feature on my car but being a geek and just thinking out loud that its something like automatic ISO adjustment just being slow?

Good thinking @bfr but it’s in all light conditions. Seems to happen for a few seconds after the reverse camera starts up.

Hi there Handydave. My car went in a month ago to fix the rear view camera flickering. They told me they updated the software. When I checked with vcds, I found that the only thing they did was downgrade the software of the infotainment from 1666 to 1664. I swear I was shocked. It didn't fix the camera problem or the wireless problem (no wifi 5G and CarPlay random sound coming and going). I am booked for early April but I think they are still scratching their heads on how to fix it...

Thanks @Massimo2323 - I'm on 1668 which I find very good, so I think I'll live with it for now, until they find a fix.
