My 2014 Touran came with a dealer fitted Kenwood infotainment system, I want to swap this for a modern android unit. What have other people fitted and any advice?

I have 3 issues with the Kenwood unit.
    • First is that I cannot mirror my android phone with it so I am stuck with using the Garmin sat nav software.
    • You have to buy new maps.
    • It doesn't work with the phone and mic buttons on the steering wheel.

    Thanks
    Pete

The latest version covers those concerns and even includes the “other” os as well as the superior one... DNX518VDABS Volkswagen Multimedia System • KENWOOD UK

Whatever you fit, that is a top unit and very popular so you should easily get good money for it.

Its a nice looking bit of kit, looks like it should interface with the highline MFD as well, but not cheap.

Whenever is something really good cheap? Buy cheap, buy twice, and it is an official VW accessory but companies like Car Audi Centre (ask for Leon at the Nottingham branch, top chap) offer it for less and their fitting is faster than me we send our customers cars there, one lady customer who has a T5 California had one done. I only wish my Octavia 1 had that PQ35 type head unit fitting as I would have one but Leon at CAC sorted me out with a Pioneer. What is the model number on the front of yours?

I understand what you mean, sometimes it depends an what you want, I put a really cheap one in my 2003 MX5 and its perfect for that, but its not for the Touran. The Touran I want something a lot better and with more than the current head unit now offers as I intend to keep the car for few more years and I do like the look of the new Kenwood, just not sure about the £899 price tag at the moment.

I have a 2014 Touran Sport Bluemotion, it was a demonstrator so had a few extras including the Kenwood DNX525DAB unit.

Decided to go for the Kenwood DNX518VDABS it should be a straight swap and could get decent money for the old unit. The next question is how to get the navigation activated on the mfd and what should that cost?
